Gillette platinum vs silver blue10/12/2023 ![]() I’ll describe what I see and feel, and invite you to share your thoughts along the way. I’ll use one razor on each side of my face and switch sides daily. I’ll try to keep the conditions similar for everything except the blade. ![]() When I do a third pass, it is usually against the grain. I typically face lather and do two passes, the first with the grain, the second across the grain. I will color one of caps with a blue Sharpie so I can tell them apart, but will not know which blade is in which razor. The razors, whose heads are clones of the DE89, have stainless steel handles with removable caps. I will use two identical Razorock Protege Razors. Thank you to Whiskerer who kindly sent me the Gillette Platinum-Plus. I’ve never tried the Brazilian Platinum-Plus before and am looking forward to giving them a go. I’ve used Nacets before, and like many others on this forum, put them on my short list of best all-around blades. Platinum-Plus are available in 3-packs for $3-4. Nacets are available on for under $20 per 100. I believe it is the first double-edge blade Gillette has sold in U.S. The competitors in this blade war are Gillette Nacet, made in Russia for the Middle Eastern market, and Gillette Platinum Plus, which is made in Brazil and available on the shelf in many American drugstores and supermarkets. This morning, I loaded one in my Mühle R41 and got the smoothest shave I have achieved thus far Up until this point, I had used Feathers and Astra SP’s, which have worked fine for.
